The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department is a dedicated team of community members who give their time, training, and courage to protect the people and homes of Hershey, Pennsylvania — every day and every night.
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department stands as a testament to what neighbors can accomplish when they choose to serve one another. Our firefighters are not professionals on the clock — they are teachers, tradespeople, parents, and friends who answer the call.
Stationed at 515 W Chocolate Avenue, we have served the Hershey community for decades, responding to structural fires, vehicle accidents, medical emergencies, and natural disasters with the same commitment we bring to our daily lives. Every alarm that sounds is answered by someone who lives here, shops here, and cares about the people who call this place home.
Our department operates on the principle that emergency response is a community responsibility. Through rigorous training, regular drills, and a deep understanding of our neighborhoods, we ensure that when crisis strikes, help arrives quickly, competently, and with compassion.
From fire suppression to community education, our volunteer firefighters are prepared to meet the full range of emergency needs in our community.
Rapid response to structural, vehicle, and wildland fires. Our volunteers are trained in advanced fire attack, search and rescue, and hazardous material containment.
First response to medical emergencies, providing critical care before advanced life support arrives. Our personnel hold emergency medical certifications.
Extrication, traffic control, and on-scene stabilization for motor vehicle collisions throughout the Hershey area and surrounding communities.
Proactive safety inspections of homes and businesses, smoke detector programs, and fire code education to prevent emergencies before they occur.
School visits, station tours, fire safety workshops, and public demonstrations that empower Hershey residents — especially children — with life-saving knowledge.
Free safety assessments for homes and businesses, including smoke alarm installation assistance, escape plan development, and hazard identification.
The Hershey Volunteer Fire Department draws its strength from the community it serves. Our firefighters come from every walk of life — they work at the Hershey Company, teach at local schools, run local businesses, and raise families right here. This isn't a job they clock into; it's a calling they return to after their day jobs end.
We regularly host open houses, recruit new volunteers, and partner with local organizations to strengthen the safety net that protects everyone in Hershey. Whether you're interested in joining our ranks, volunteering your time, or simply learning more about fire safety, there's a place for you here.
